There is something special about colour .
When it comes to country furniture ,you expect freshly opened conkers, toffee and honey swirls and a knotty grain, also signs of a hard working life and appreciation by there owners as in the care they bestowed upon them.
Well lets hope these items tick all the boxes.
A 18th Century oak Table With A Double Gate Action And Single Flap.
This table has a church feel to it,as in it is a small refectory with a country twist, i could see it as an altar table and then as a dining table, although of simple design it has elegant open spandrels and turnings.
This 18th Century Primitive Stick Chair .
Recently purchased from a private collection in East Sussex where it has sat for the past twenty five years, this chair has a wonderful curved rail which is all knarly and knotted but with a glass like finish over a stirred toffee colour and also showing traces of brown paint.
Another nice touch is that all the rails are single pegged to the rail, primitive but still made by a trades man.
I love the simplicity of this small table,it has an 18th century oak base with single draw and a victorian pine plank top,the colour is fantastic and it is one to stroke and smile of small size there is always the question is it a childs table or just a cottage piece,it does not matter it just is a true country table that has been loved over the years and regularly dusted and cleaned to give it its wonderful colour and presence.
