A 17th Century Carved Oak Bible Box.

Constructed from thick cleft timber presumably to accept the deep Carved lunettes to the front and sides .

The lid has margins decorated with zig zag pattern made with a punch.

A good colour size and surface .

A one time this box hinged from the back but has been changed to side pivots.

Interlacing lunettes occur frequently in the English / Welsh border counties.
