Carved in the round he is depicted with chains from his right hand to his right ankle and holding a book of the gospels in his left hand.

St. Leonard is highly regarded by the French and is the patron Saint of prisoners. It has been said that if one possesses a carving of Saint leonard in their home, they will never be burgled ....

He has a great colour and patina and is carved to the highest standard with an outstanding face ,standing well he has historic worm damage and repairs to the base and his right side shoulder has been reattached .
