Recently purchased from an East sussex Manor house.
An early 17th century carved oak panel ,depicting isaac.
This large English oak panel depicting Isaac offering his son as a sacrifice to god,with his son bound to an altar with the angel of god's hand stopping his sword and the unfortunate ram poking his head out of the bottom left hand corner ,which as the story goes was sacrificed instead.
All within an S-scrolled arch with foliate corners.
Detailed deep carving and good colour and surface.
